Results
This project has now finished the transcription process. With the help of Zooniverse volunteers we ended up managing to transcribe tens of thousands of records from across three different jurisdictions to be able to compare life histories and criminal career trajectories of people who entered the prison system across the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
We are currently working on cleaning and analysing the data. This may take some time - the lead researcher on the project, Dr Alana Piper, is not in secure academic employment so this project has become a labour of love to be continued in her limited free time.
