The magnetopause is the boundary where the solar wind meets Earth’s magnetic field. This shifting edge of our planet’s defenses helps us uncover how space weather shapes the world around us.

About Space Umbrella

Earth’s magnetosphere is like a giant umbrella in space, protecting our planet from the Sun’s stream of charged particles. When these particles strike it, exciting and important physics unfolds. We need your help to pinpoint where this happens using images from a NASA spacecraft. Together, we can build a huge collection of these locations—a treasure trove for space scientists.

This work is funded by NASA.
