Hello Deehar - Hello again after so long. Surprised to see your message regarding Operation War Diary which I also transcribed. Like you I was disappointed when we could not continue - there must have been a lot more diaries to transcribe. I did query on the Talk Page that I did not think it would be feasible to show pages out of sequence. It was a pity we could not continue this work.
After reading your message I managed to bring up the following message regarding the closure of the project. It may give you an idea of what happened when I contacted Cynthia a Moderator on this project four years ago.
I hope this information below may be of help to you. With all best wishes from England.
Operation War Diary
marie.eklidvirginmedia.com (@marie.eklidvirginmedia.com) July 29th 2019, 11:05 pm Hello Mike, just read your message regarding the War Diaries which we all worked on. I think all our work would have been appreciated by Historians and other people researching their ancestors in WW1. I don't think all that work would have been in vain! Just wanted to let you know that I sent a message to Cynthia, the moderator for the war diaries not so long ago asking about what was happening and would it eventually come back because she had posted the following message: "I need to gain access to the new OWD project, as opposed to the original one that has been taken down, so that I can write the tutorial for it. I was/am a moderator for OWD. Rob Livermore has been building the new one and I offered to write the tutorial for it. He emailed me the URL for OWD, but I can't access it. I just get a message that says if I'm sure I have the correct URL I probably don't have permission. How do I go about getting access? If Rob needs to give me permission, how does he do that? Thanks!" Cynthia then informed me later that she was about to start writing the Tutorial. If I see anymore information from Cynthia regarding the WW1 diaries I will send you an email, or anyone else connected with the WW1 diaries. Just on case you miss a message on here. I would mention though that they did say a lot earlier those who transcribed WW1 diaries would receive an email from Zooniverse. PS I am presently transcribing another Zooniverse project - The American Soldiers in WW2. Very interesting - lots of typing when transcribing their answers on the views they had about WW2 and what they went through. I don't mind all the typing because I have been a touch typist for years. Mike, I think we will just have to wait and see what happens. When they do come back for us, I hope the system will not have changed too much for transcribing them - I always thought it was a good project the way it was set out for us all. Regards Marie:)

Hi, DZM,I haven't been able to get into Operation War Diary for about three days now. That is the only Zooniverse project I'm on, if that helps any. Any idea when this might be fixed? My username there is cgastwein@aol.com
Thanks.
Cynthia
Second try ! I've had this nice long reply and then all of a sudden it went AWOL ! Sigh !
Hi Cynthia,
I'm obviously not Darren, but your problem problem arises probably from the @ in your username. It is actually a precautionary measure so that your email address isn't there for everyone to see ! You will probably have to register again and after that we can merge your accounts. So, don't worry. All your work is saved and in no time you will be up and running again. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Els

Hi Cynthia,
I had a quick look and Yahoo! have, unfortunately, shut down the free service that OWD was using to run those geolocation queries. The red banner here says it was shut down on 3rd Jan. https://developer.yahoo.com/yql/
I'll have a look at this next week, but I'm afraid this means it might be permanently gone.

Hi, Jim,
Thanks for your answer. I'll pass this information on to Rob Livermore.
More input into our ongoing discussion about moving OWD to your newer software.

Cynthia on reading your message re OWD does this mean there is perhaps a chance of it coming back to transcribe again soon?

HI Marie! Good to see you again! I had the same kind of discussion with Cynthia before life moved on. I have just sent a polite .message to the NA asking about the project. I have just finished transcriptions of Humphry Davy's Notebooks and it looks as if Lancaster University's online version will be very elegant. It should be - they have some influential sponsors.
Best wishes, David

We have an issue with the geolocator that is part of our Place tag, for noting place names that occur in the war diaries. It doesn't seem to be working at all. Normally, you type in a place name , hit enter, and it responds with a list of possibilities (or sometimes just one possibility) or it says "Place not found." Today, 1/4/19, nothing happens when you hit enter.
I am a moderator on the project and one of our volunteers notified me of this situation. I tried it out for myself, using names of locations I know actually exist, in both Chrome and Firefox and it is not working in either browser. I can't speak for Safari as I don't have a Mac.
Thanks for your attention. I'll keep an eye out for any response/questions you send my way.
